What Does a School Counselor Do?
WHAT DOES MY SCHOOL COUNSELOR DO?
I am here to help you and your students!
Guidance Lessons
- This year, I will be in the specials rotation during media. I will come into your students media one time a month to do guidance lessons.
- Guidance lessons are based on the Guidance Essential standards.
- Topics are different for each grade level. Some topics I cover are tattling, organization, manners, career exploration, conflict resolution, the growth mindset, test prep, and more!
Individual Counseling
- Both teachers and parents can refer students for individual counseling.
- Students might see me for individual counseling to work on decision-making, anger management, family changes, friendship skills, or another concern.
- You can email me, call me, or stop by my office if you would like to refer a student for individual counseling.
- Students can also self-refer by writing me a note and putting it in the box outside of my office. We don't always know what is going on in a child's life, and this gives them the opportunity to reach out for positive support!
Small Group Counseling
- I can do small groups for friendship, social skills, anger management or anything we feel students need help in.
